Precision Inc., received the 2019 Business Impact Award in Pella, Iowa


On the morning of Thursday February 28th at the Central College Graham Conference Center, the Pella Area Community & Economic Alliance (PACE) hosted their 2019 Annual Membership Breakfast. During this event, PACE honored four local businesses for their innovative programs and overall impact to the Pella, Iowa community.

Precision Inc., parent company of PPI (Precision Pulley and Idler) and PFI (Precision Food Innovations), was recognized as the 2019 Business Impact Award Winner. Karen Eischen, the Executive Director of PACE stated “PPI has shown admirable leadership in their field of work through product development, continued expansion into different markets, international business, and their drive for success as an employee-owned company. Precision is truly a leader within their industry. We are proud that they are headquartered in Pella. Congratulations, you really do keep It moving!”

The PACE selection committee reviewed the nominations for 2019 and recognized recipients for their notable achievements. The categories presented this year included the Business Impact Award, the Community Impact Award, the Community Heritage Award, and the Pella Spotlight. The Impact Awards are designed to distinguish businesses of all sizes who are transforming the Pella community through modernization, strong business practices, and community involvement.

Brian Simpson, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PPI, said “It was an honor for Precision Inc., to receive this award! Being an ESOP company, our employees and communities are very important to us. By giving back and supporting our communities, we not only invest in the areas we have facilities in but we also invest in our people, their families and neighbors.”

Precision, Inc., appoints Leslie Johnston as Vice President of Human Resources

On January 1st, 2019 Leslie Johnston was named Vice President of Human Resources for Precision, Inc., (Precision) the parent company of Precision Pulley and Idler (PPI) and Precision Food Innovations (PFI).

Leslie has played several leadership roles in her professional journey and joined Precision after 15 years with Pella Corporation (Pella Corp). At Pella Corp, she served as Human Resource Manager for one of their manufacturing facilities in Sioux Center, Iowa and came back to her native Pella, Iowa to start and lead the strategic direction for the first HR Service Center. Her final role at Pella was the Corporate Talent Acquisition Manager. 

Leslie joined the Precision team in February of 2017 as Corporate HR Manager was promoted to Director of HR in June of the same year.

Joint Statement on  PPI and Maysville, Kentucky Hiring Forecast

We genuinely appreciate your interest in employment with PPI. Our property acquisition is now complete and building renovations and equipment installs are underway. We anticipate our facility opening for business in fall 2019. During our initial build-out phase, we plan to hire approximately 15-20 employees in the following job classifications: welders, machinists, and assemblers. Currently, two plant leadership positions are posted and can be accessed at PPI CAREERS SITE. Please refer to the timeline below to learn about our application procedure and timeline for all other positions.

  • Applications will be accepted at Kentucky Career Center (201 Government St in Maysville) during the month of May. No applications will be accepted prior to this date.
  • All applications will be screened to assess qualifications in early June by KCC staff and PPI leadership.
  • Those who are selected for interviews will be contacted via email/phone in early June and invited to attend a company information and interview session on June 21st with PPI leadership.

PPI Announces New Plant Addition

Precision Pulley and Idler (PPI) announces the addition of a new manufacturing facility located in Maysville, Kentucky. The new plant will produce products for the fast-growing Unit Handling (i.e. baggage and package handling) segment, and will be in addition to and supplement our facilities in Corning, Iowa. The new 105,000 sq. ft. facility is strategically located near many of PPI's Unit Handling customers.  Our goal is to be operational out of the new facility by September of 2019.

The actual closing on the facility will happen in January. At that time activity will commence on this project.

Precision, Inc. Announces new Vice President of Manufacturing

Precision, Inc., (Precision), announced that effective January 15th, Matt Buckingham has been named the new Vice President of Manufacturing for Precision, Pulley and Idler (PPI).

Matt has most recently been President of the Firearms Division for Smith & Wesson Corp. in Springfield, Massachusetts. Matt was responsible for the overall performance of five major brands. Prior to joining Smith & Wesson, Matt was with Brownells, Inc. (Brownells) located in Grinnell, Iowa. He joined Brownells in 2004 and served as its President. Early in his career, he held a variety of increasingly responsible management roles with a demonstrated track record of delivering organic and inorganic growth while also proving his ability to build strong teams.

Brown, President and CEO of Precision expressed the excitement to have Matt returning to Iowa to reconnect with his family roots and create a positive impact for the company, "We are very pleased to welcome Matt and his family as a part of the Precision family. Precision, Inc. Announces Acquisition of Meyer Industries, Inc.

Precision, Inc. (Precision) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Meyer Industries Inc.(Meyer) located in San Antonio, Texas as of June 1, 2017. Meyer is a leading manufacturer of conveyor systems and equipment for the food processing industry.

The company has earned a reputation for the ability to provide customized solutions to its customers including high quality vibratory and bucket elevator systems as well as hopper-feeders and bulk box filling. Meyer also provides food processing equipment including mix-blend systems, hydrostatic steam blanchers, hydrochillers and washers.

Roger A. Brown, President / CEO of Precision noted, “The acquisition of Meyer adds additional products and markets to our food industry sales and will complement our product offerings from our Kofab operation. With the addition of Meyer, we now have two prominent brand names in the industry and have a tremendous base to grow this segment of our business.”

Along with this acquisition, Precision has established a Food Division. As of June 1, Greg Stravers has been promoted to Senior Vice President of the Food Division and will lead this group. Mr. Stravers will be responsible for the operations of all companies within the Division and will report directly to Mr. Brown.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to lead this new division within a company that I have been proud to be a part of for the past 16 years. With this acquisition, Precision is poised to grow significantly and be a major manufacturing presence in the food processing industry” said Mr. Stravers.

Mr. Brown commented, “I am very pleased to announce the promotion of Greg and establishment of the Food Division, as it will provide focus for growing our food industry segment while not detracting from our core businesses at Precision.”

The integration process has started and will take place over the next months. It is our goal to continue to provide the highest level of service to our customers and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with our customers.
